EFESME PUBLISHES INDUSTRY GUIDELINES FOR EUROPE
The European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (EFESME) has created guidelines for installation, maintenance, repair and rescue of trapped people in elevators. Reflecting efforts "to meet the particular needs of the sector during the COVID-19 emergency and to complete, with specific instructions, the various national protocols on how to work safely during the pandemic," the guidelines are free to download, the organization said. They were developed with input and comments submitted by EFESME members over several meetings among experts and technicians with varying field experiences. They are divided into a series of introductory paragraphs aimed at explaining the nature of the coronavirus, objectives (of the text and of the technicians), the use of transportation means and personal protective equipment (PPE), and more. Two annexes, on PPE and World Health Organization recommendations, follow. EFESME members ANACAM (Italian elevator association) and ANPA (French lift association), are working on translations for Italian and French, respectively.
