The 12th Shanghai Session (May 10th13th, 2016)

The WORLD ELEVATOR ESCALATOR EXPO 2016 was successfully held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from May 10th to 13th, 2016. With the theme of Innovation-Driven Development, this exhibition covered a total area of over 135,000 square meters and attracted more than 1,200 exhibitors from home and abroad. Among them, overseas enterprises were from more than 20 countries and regions including Germany, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Italy, India, Turkey, Singapore and the United Kingdom. The event registered a total of 120,000 professional visitors, making it the largest and most attended edition in the exhibitions history. The latest products, technologies and related equipment of the elevator industry were showcased collectively, building an ideal platform for exchanges and cooperation in the global elevator sector.

This exhibition marked the 4th time the event had been held in Shanghai after a 12-year interval, and more importantly, it celebrated the 20th anniversary of its consecutive hosting since 1996. With the care and support of Chinese and foreign exhibitors, visitors, friends and colleagues from all relevant parties, it has grown into a global grand event for the elevator industry.

During the exhibition, more than 20 technical exchange conferences were held, covering topics such as Vertical Transportation System Design for High-Rise Buildings, Development of Skilled Talents (Maintenance Workers) in Chinas Elevator Industry, Clarifying Legal Liabilities for Elevator Safety and Strengthening Risk Control, Elevator Door System Renovation Solutions, Making Elevators More User-Friendly, Intelligent and Safe as well as Internet and Smart Parking. These seminars were highly praised by numerous elevator enterprises, scientific research institutions, international elevator organizations and professional media outlets.

The successful hosting of the China International Elevator Exhibition is attributed to Chinas enormous elevator market, as well as its strong capabilities in manufacturing, installation, maintenance and repair. In 2015, Chinas elevator output reached 760,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 6%, and the total number of in-service elevators hit 4.25 million units, a year-on-year growth of 18.3%. These two figures have ranked first in the world for consecutive years, making China the most important part of the global elevator market. Meanwhile, there were 696 licensed elevator manufacturing enterprises and 10,326 licensed installation, maintenance and repair enterprises in China at that time. Amid fierce market competition and an increasingly stringent regulatory environment for elevators, a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises lacking core competitiveness would face elimination. On the contrary, enterprises with core competitiveness in independent products, original technologies and invention patents would gain broader market space, which is exactly in line with the theme of this exhibitionInnovation-Driven Development.

The 11th Guangzhou Session (May 13th16th, 2014)

The WORLD ELEVATOR ESCALATOR EXPO 2014 was successfully held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou from May 13 to 16, 2014. A concentrated display was made of the latest products, technologies and related equipment, drawing a total of 112,000 elevator professionals and numerous purchasers. As the 11th consecutive professional elevator exhibition hosted by the China Elevator Association, it has evolved into a global grand event with the care and support of Chinese and foreign exhibitors, visitors, friends and colleagues from all relevant parties.

In addition to the International Seminar on Elevator Safetyhosted by the Special Equipment Bureau of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China, with the theme of in-depth discussion on the reform of elevator safety supervision methods and industrial developmentheld concurrently during the exhibition, more than 30 seminars were organized on topics including ultra-high-speed elevator technology, intelligent elevator control, elevator component application, production process equipment, enterprise informatization, as well as real estate and the elevator market. These seminars were highly praised by numerous elevator enterprises, scientific research institutions, international elevator organizations and professional media.

The successful hosting of the WORLD ELEVATOR ESCALATOR EXPO is attributed to China's enormous elevator market and its strong capabilities in manufacturing, installation, maintenance and repair. In 2013, China produced 633,000 elevators and escalators in total, accounting for approximately 70% of the world's newly installed elevators, with a growth rate of nearly 20%. Around 66,000 elevators and escalators were exported to 145 countries and regions worldwide that year, while the domestic market demand reached nearly 570,000 units. By the end of 2013, the number of in-service elevators in China had exceeded 3 million, ranking first globally and accounting for one-fourth of the world's total in-service elevators. China's per capita elevator ownership had surpassed the global average, yet there remained a significant gap compared with that of developed countries, leaving enormous room for development.
