CORONAVIRUS INDUSTRY UPDATE

  • Chicagoland’s Colley Elevator continues its efforts to support the local community during the pandemic. President Craig Zomchek organized a GoFundMe fundraiser for donations the company will match up to US$2,500 that are going to Northern Illinois Food Bank, Greater Chicago Food Depository, Loyola Medicine workers and Elmhurst, Illinois healthcare workers. As of April 20, donations had reached US$6,260. Anyone who donates receives a Colley hand sanitizer. Colley wishes to thank Motion Control Engineering for its US$500 donation.
  • The Canadian Elevator Contractors Association has set up a Basecamp site for its members it will keep open while the pandemic exists. In addition to coronavirus resources, there is information on employees, supplier announcements, provincial sites and other associations' information. Members are encouraged to post questions that can be answered by the many knowledgeable members on the site.
  • The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) will host a "Safety Stand Down for COVID-19" on April 29. The nationwide event entails electrical contractors across the country inviting employees, subcontractors, owners, architects and engineers to review company protocols and jobsite conditions, and ask questions on such topics as proper use of personal protective equipment and how to effectively follow social-distancing recommendations. Companies will review safety programs and policies to ensure all workers are protected.
