ERRC AMONG THOSE HELPING IN TIME OF CRISIS
Stories are emerging about how the elevator industry is helping during the coronavirus pandemic. Colley Elevator Co. is buying takeout lunches from local independent restaurants for its staff. Glenn Duncan of Parts Specialists, Inc., Elevator U and the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation (EESF) is well known in the industry for efforts such as the split-the-pot raffle he organizes during National Association of Elevator Contractorsconventions through the Elevator Riders Riding Club (ERRC) — elevator industry people who are motorcycle enthusiasts — raising thousands of dollars over the years for EESF. During the current crisis, Duncan shared on social media that ERRC is helping employees of University of Illinois Hospital, “our soldiers on the frontline battling this virus.” ERRC delivered 1,000 N95 masks to the hospital, and plans to deliver another 1,000. He urges others to do the same. ERRC members received kudos for their efforts, and Brad Hunt of The Peelle Co.shared that his company recently delivered US$100 worth of pizza to the emergency room staff at a local hospital.
