IN MEMORIAM: JEFFREY WALKER

Jeffrey Walker, an engineer who held numerous leadership positions with thyssenkrupp Elevator in Memphis, passed away unexpectedly on July 7. Colleague John W. Koshak describes Walker as a friend, mentor and teacher. His passing is a “profound loss” for both his loved ones and the elevator industry. “He was the mechanical architect of the World Trade Center, as well as a contributor to every system Dover, and later thyssenkrupp, ever designed,” Koshak says. “His contributions as vice chair, and later chair, of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Mechanical Design Committee are further testimony to his willingness to share his time and knowledge with the industry.” Visitation for Walker is planned at 11 a.m. with a service at noon on August 3 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 8029 Wilkinsonville Road, Millington, Tennessee 36053.
