ELEVATORS, ESCALATORS AMONG UPGRADES TO AIRPORT STATION
The railway station at Gatwick Airport in London is set to undergo GBP150 million (US$188 million) worth of upgrades to address problems with overcrowding, Jersey Evening Post reports. The station sees approximately 20 million people traveling to the airport by train. The upgrades planned for the station will include adding five more elevators and eight escalators, doubling the size of the concourse and widening two platforms. Upgrades are set to begin in spring 2020 and should take two years to complete. The Department for Transport says work will be scheduled to minimize disruptions.
