BROOKLYN SUBWAY ENTRANCE SHUTS DOWN FOR RENOVATIONS

The second busiest subway station in Brooklyn, New York, will be down one entrance for approximately a year. Brooklyn Daily Eagle reports the Myrtle Avenue North Arcade entrance to the Jay Street/MetroTech station was closed on May 20 and will remain closed for renovations. The improvements, estimated to cost US$21.7 million will include reconstruction of stairways, replacement of elevators and relocation of escalator machinery. The escalators are expected to be in operation by summer 2020. This entrance at 370 Jay Street is reportedly important to riders who have trouble climbing stairs because it offers the elevators and two escalators.
