WEST THAMES STREET PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE WELDED INTO PLACE

The new West Thames Street pedestrian bridge has been lifted and welded into place above West Street in Battery Park City, Lower Manhattan. According to a report from New York YIMBY, the bridge was designed by WXY Architecture with engineering consultation from Weidlinger Associates. There will be two sets of stairways and elevators on each end of the bridge, and both sets are still under construction. The bridge will provide access between the Hudson River Greenway and the 50 West Street outdoor plaza. It is on schedule to be completed by this fall to replace the Rector Street bridge, which will be demolished.
