BACK-TO-BACK ESCALATOR INCIDENTS AT U.K. MALL

Birmingham Live has reported on two escalator accidents in 24 hours at the Cornbow Shopping Centre in Halesowen, U.K. The first, occurring on April 8, saw an elderly man colliding with three other shoppers when he fell down a unit. All four were taken to the hospital after being treated at the scene. The incident is being investigated. In the second, a woman was taken to the hospital following a fall on an escalator on April 9. She had boarded with a full cart of fruits and vegetables. Her injuries are “potentially serious,” an ambulance service spokesperson said. The shopping center manager informed the public that three lifts are available for those unsure about using the escalators.
