ESCALATORS WELCOMED ALONG BUSY EXPRESSWAY IN INDIA

Foot overbridges with escalators and underpasses to ease travel and enhance the safety of pedestrians and other non-vehicular traffic at three of the busiest intersections along the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway in India were formally inaugurated by the National Highways Authority of India in April, the Hindustan Times reports. Part of the larger National Highway 48, the expressway project began construction in 2016 and cuts the city in two. The authority said the escalators were thoroughly tested before being put into operation. One pedestrian remarked, "It will be a lot easier to cross the road now, as new escalators have been made functional."
