BUDAPEST SUBWAY TRANSFORMATION INCLUDES NEW VT

The year-and-a-half-long transformation of Line 3 of the Budapest Subway, unveiled by Mayor István Tarlós on March 30, includes new and upgraded escalators and elevators, The Mayor reports. The 17-km-long line is the largest railway system in Hungary, facilitating the transportation of more than 500,000 passengers on working days. Along with more than 500 new digital and static information boards and approximately 170 security cameras, an unspecified number of new vertical-transportation (VT) units was added, including a set of escalators and an elevator at Dózsa György Street station. In addition, features such as loud information devices at escalator entrances were incorporated for sight- and hearing-impaired passengers.
