SCHINDLER UPGRADING ESCALATORS AT PENNSYLVANIA AIRPORT

A US$250,000 contract was awarded to Schindler by the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority to repair and upgrade a pair of escalators at Lehigh Valley International Airport in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, WFMZ-TV reports. Part of more than US$1 million in capital upgrades approved by the authority, the escalator work promises to remove what the source describes as “a thorn in the authority’s side,” as the 22-year-old units have been problematic. On one of the escalators, 41 service calls were made in five months. Expected to be complete in two to three months, the work should give the escalators another 20 years of service life.
