NEW LONDON TUBE STATION ENTRANCE WITH ESCALATORS, LIFT

Earlier this month, workers for London Tube contractor Dragados broke through the final layers of concrete to make way for a new Bank Station entrance on Cannon Street, blogger IanVisits reports. The entrance will have escalators that take passengers down to an expanded Northern Line concourse, as well as a second set of escalators down to the Docklands Light Railway platforms. An elevator will provide additional access to the platforms. Scheduled for completion in 2022, upgrades to the station have been challenging due to it being one of the busiest in the network and there being a “high concentration of important infrastructure” both below and above ground, such as historic buildings, according to Tube operator Transport for London.
