23-STORY RESIDENTIAL TOWER ENVISIONED IN MANCHESTER AREA

A plan by Silverlane Developments to build a 23-story residential tower on the outskirts of Manchester, U.K., is awaiting approval by the Salford City Council, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat reports, citing The Architects’ Journal. Designed by Manchester firm Jeffrey Bell Architects, the development would offer 272 apartments near the railway station in Eccles, a town in Salford, part of the greater Manchester area. Drawing inspiration from the town’s industrial past with a brick, masonry and metal façade, the design includes a two-story, ground-level colonnade. The architecture firm says the proposal will “create a distinctive new identity for the town as a whole.”
