BROADCAST: 15 RESCUED PER MONTH FROM MELBOURNE ELEVATORS

Australian radio station 3AW693 News Talk, during a recent broadcast of its "3AW Breakfast with Ross and John" program, spoke with an elevator consultant who assured the program's listeners that lifts are safe, but acknowledged that emergency services are called to rescue "more than 15 people every month" from entrapments across Melbourne. “Lifts are basically the safest method of transport in the world,” Dean Morgan from LML Lift Consultants assured the program's listeners. He went on to downplay the likelihood of an elevator going into freefall, saying, “Yes lifts can fall, but there’s numerous safety devices that would have to fail before something like that happened."
