3-STORY APARTMENT TOWER AND OFFICE FOR HOT TOKYO DISTRICT

A 180-m-tall, 43-story apartment tower and a 115-m-tall, 21-story office tower are planned in Tokyo's emerging Toranomon/Roppongi district on the site of Hotel Okura, which opened in 1962 and was demolished in 2015, despite being hailed as a "modernist masterpiece," Japan Property Central reports. The pair of buildings, Roppongi Itchome, will have a total floor area of 111,000 m2, approximately 60% of which will be for apartments. The district's population increased 5.7% to 13,600 in 2018. A new subway connection and an array of hotel, apartment and office towers — including a new Okura Hotel Tokyo set to open in September as part of a 41- and 21-story tower project — are rising nearby. Construction of Roppongi Itchome is tentatively scheduled to start in 2021 and be finished by 2025.
