ESCALATORS PART OF UPGRADES AT CLEVELAND SPORTS VENUES

Gateway Development Corp., the nonprofit organization that enforces teams’ leases at Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, approved US$2.6 million to replace four outdoor escalators at the baseball venue, cleveland.com reports. The new escalators are part of more than US$9 million in taxpayer-funded improvements coming to the venues. Gateway originally approved US$1 million for the escalators, but the price tag increased due to steel tariffs and other logistics factors. The units, along with American with Disabilities Act-compliant restrooms at Quicken Loans Arena, will enhance accessibility for sports fans. Progressive Field is home to Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Indians, and Quicken Loans Arena is home to the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association.
