ELEVATOR DIRECTOR OF NYCHA SUSPENDED OVER ALLEGATIONS

The director of the division of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) that oversees safety and maintenance of 3,237 elevators has been suspended over allegations he violated the agency’s anti-discrimination policies, The Real Deal reports. Ivo Nikolic was hired in 2017 to replace the former head of the elevator division who was in charge when the authority was found to have improperly reported a fatality. Under Nikolic, the agency has had its own problems, including the indictment of three senior elevator directors on felony charges in 2018 for lying on maintenance reports. An attorney for Nikolic tells the source that he and his client are “in the dark ourselves,” and look forward to “getting to the bottom of this with NYCHA.”
