2 WTC MAY RISE IN NYC’S FINANCIAL DISTRICT SANS ANCHOR TENANT

Citing information from BloombergCurbed New York reports that developer Larry Silverstein may build 2 World Trade Center (2 WTC) in New York City’s (NYC) Financial District without securing an anchor tenant. Silverstein says if construction starts soon, 2 WTC would be complete in three to four years, and that would be plenty of time to land an anchor tenant. News Corp. and 21st Century Fox had planned to move from Midtown to approximately 1 million sq. ft. of the 2.8 million sq. ft. in 2 WTC but backed out in early 2016. Should the Bjarke Ingels Group-designed skyscraper be built, it will have plenty of competition in the high-end office-space department from new towers rising in Hudson Yards, Manhattan West and Midtown East, the source observes.
