ELEVATOR DEATH OF GIRL IN INDIA RESULTS IN CHARGES FOR THREE

What authorities are calling an illegally installed elevator entrapped and killed a seven-year-old girl in October 2018 in the Ghorpade Peth area of Pune, India, and a builder and his two partners have been arrested on charges, including culpable homicide, The Times of India reports. The child was traveling alone on the elevator when she became stuck between the cage and wall between the second and third floors. Residents rescued her and she was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries. Investigations revealed both the building and elevator were constructed without obtaining permission from the Pune Municipal Corp. An attorney for the three men denies the allegations.
