ELEVATOR MISHAP THAT INJURED EMPLOYEE INVESTIGATED IN TEXAS

A female employee of John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, was sent to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit after being seriously injured in an elevator accident on the 10th floor on January 18, ABC affiliate WFAA is among news outlets to report. State inspectors examined the elevator, which has been in operation since 1993, and determined it had passed an inspection on April 4, 2018, despite minor violations that included no fire extinguisher in the machine room, an unguarded light and a missing duct cover. Hospital CEO Robert Early told employees in an email the employee is receiving the “best possible care” and asked for “continued prayers for her and her family.” The elevator remains shut down.
