TOWER RISING AT BROOKLYN DOMINO SUGAR FACTORY SITE
The cantilevers at the midway point of a 22-story, 435-ft.-tall mixed-use tower on the old Domino Sugar factory site in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, are starting to come together, pointing toward a likely 2020 completion for 260 Kent Avenue, now renamed 1 South First, New York YIMBY reports. Designed by COOKFOX with precast concrete panels inspired by the molecular patterns of sugar, the structure will contain 330 residential rental units (including 66 that are “affordable”), 150,000 sq. ft. of office space and 13,000 sq. ft. of ground-level retail. 1 South First overlooks Domino Park and joins a new public esplanade built by Two Trees Management. Two additional towers, including what will be one of Williamsburg’s tallest, are also planned.
