FUTURISTIC SKYWALK WITH LIFTS, ESCALATORS OPENS IN INDIA

Boasting 12 escalators, four elevators and eight staircases, the 10.5-m-wide, 340-m-long Dakshineswar Skywalk was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata, India, on November 5, various news outlets, including United News of India, report. Lined with shops, the futuristic, elevated walkway will ease the passage of pilgrims between a traffic roundabout and Dakshineswar Kali Temple, visited by tens of millions of people each year. They formerly had to share a busy roadway with rickshaws and cars. The skywalk was designed by New Delhi-based Design Forum International for the Bengal government.
