WOMAN, BABY INJURED IN HONG KONG ESCALATOR MISHAP

A 59-year-old woman and her seven-month-old grandson were hospitalized and reportedly in stable condition after falling down several steps on a shopping-mall escalator in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong, on April 9, The Standard reports. At 43.5 m, the escalators are the second longest in Hong Kong malls. Authorities closed the escalators after the incident and found they were in good working order. Escalator accidents can be prevented, they said, by firmly holding handrails and not using smartphones while riding.
