IoT CUTS ESCALATOR REPAIR TIME AT SEOUL METRO

Using Internet of Things (IoT) technology has enabled the Seoul Metro to cut more than a third off the time it takes to repair escalators, The Korea Bizwire reports. The state-owned mass-transit company installed IoT-enabled sensors in 100 escalators at 12 stations on the system's Line 7. The sensors alert authorities in real time when problems are detected, which prompts the immediate dispatch of mechanics who already know where the problem is. Seoul Metro reports that since the system has been operating, average repair time has dropped from 56 minutes to 37 minutes, a 37% decrease.
