The lightweight, futuristic design of thyssenkrupp Elevator's MULTI cabin earned it the German Design Award in the Buildings and Elements category for 2018 from the German Design Council. Boasting shaft views of the revolutionary MULTI technology, the cabin's design concept was developed by the Junior Professorship in Industrial Design Engineering at Technische Universität in Dresden, Germany, with neongrau behind the lighting and interface. The cabin was constructed by Composyst GmbH and is on display in the lobby of the thyssenkrupp test tower in Rottweil, Germany. The use of carbon fiber resulted in a cabin weighing several hundred kg less than one made of steel. Its circular operating panel “captures the cabin's horizontal and circular travel directions within the shaft.” A formal awards ceremony is scheduled for February 9, 2018, in Germany.
