WOMAN INJURED IN FALL ON INDIAN RAIL STATION ESCALATOR

A woman was injured on September 6 after falling on an escalator at Platform 3 of Tatanagar Station, the second-busiest station in India's South Eastern Railway, the pioneer reports. Both the woman's dupatta and purse strap became stuck in the steps of what she described as an escalator crowded with passengers during morning rush hour, causing her to fall and suffer a wrist injury. Local rail officials are investigating, but the unit remains open. Tatanagar Station, traveled by approximately 50,000 passengers each day, is the second South Eastern Railway station to get escalators after Howrah in Bengal.
