AIRPORT EXPANSION AT INDIA-PAKISTAN BORDER INCLUDES VT

An expansion of the Jammu airport (Jammu Civil Enclave), a military/public facility in Jammu, India, approximately 8 mi. from the Pakistan border, includes vertical transportation (VT), the Daily Excelsior reports. Three escalators (two for departures and one for arrivals) and three elevators (one each for departures, security holds and arrivals) were installed as part of a larger project that more than doubles the size and capacity of the terminal to 14,500 m2 and 720 passengers per hour, respectively. The project, which also includes enhanced security and additional parking, was inaugurated in August in a ceremony attended by top aviation officials.
